Beauty Secrets of the Far East
Written by Sam Hari

For centuries, we have heard tales of some of the most beautiful women in the world hailing from the Far East. From Arabian princesses to the beautiful women in Indochina and the Mughal empires, stories of unsurpassed beauty have been handed down through the ages. Countless wars have been waged and eligible bachelors travelled to the ends of the earth to gaze upon beauty so divine.

What qualities drove normally sane men to madly seek out these beauties? What did these legendary women have in common? These secrets I shall reveal: shiny, lustrous hair; perfect skin; eyes incomparable in their beauty.

And how can you, too, posses the qualities that purportedly launched a thousand ships?

Secrets of Beautiful Hair

Achieving and maintaining silky, lustrous hair has long been a well kept secret. The key to beautiful hair is keeping it nourished and moisturized. But how do we accomplish this?

  • Eat a diet rich in healthy fats. These fats help nourish the scalp and prevent dryness. Nuts and dark green veggies are particularly rich in nutrients that nourish the hair follicles and promote healthy growth.
  • Apply oil to the hair. Gently massage a small amount of oil into the hair and scalp. This keeps the scalp moist and nourishes the hair. Coconut oil is generally the best choice for hair as it contains many healthy fats that promote healthy growth and add lustre.

Secrets of Sumptuous Skin

There are a few key secrets to truly sumptuous skin:

  • Drink plenty of water as it is by far the best hydrator of skin. This helps prevent dryness. Green tea and milk are excellent beverages as well. Berries are also wonderful for skin and, although their benefits have been known for centuries in the east, today we also know that the antioxidants in these berries help keep skin healthy and help remove blemishes.
  • For those of you who are prone to dry skin, here’s a little secret: Take one teaspoon of honey and mix it with a ripe banana until you get a paste-like consistency. Apply this to your problem areas. Leave on for about 10 minutes, then wash off. When applied to the face, this provides a healthy glow to the skin.
  • For oily skin types, using a papaya skin or an apple peel to cleanse your skin is highly effective as it works to cleanse and tighten the skin.

Secrets of Erotic Eyes

Eyes have long been an indicator of beauty. Today, many women use items like eyeliners and mascara to bring out the beauty in their eyes. The princesses I have spoken of didn’t have access to this makeup, yet men could not express in words the beauty they saw in their eyes. Kajal or Kohl from the Far East is the answer. Used around the eyes as eyeliner, this beauty secret has been used for centuries. There are several recipes for this, but one of the most popular recipes involves burning camphor in a metal vessel until all that is left is soot. Collect this soot and mix in a few drops of ghee, then apply around the eyes. In addition to bringing out the eyes, Kajal offers a multitude of other benefits and has been used in Ayurveda for millennia.

Of course, true beauty doesn’t lie within our hair, skin or eyes. It resides within us. Living a happy, stress-free life and having a loving, carefree attitude is not just a secret form the Far East. It’s one of the great secrets of the universe. Remembering this secret will always let your true beauty shine through.
